Mute incoming ring w/out caller knowing?
Hello
Bar one, cellphone providers over here send unanswered calls to voice mail after barely three rings, which is far too short when I'm outside with the cellphone in my bag. As a result, I missed calls, and had to call people back at my expense :x Since no application is available to run an answering machine inside the Blackberry itself, the only solution - short of moving to the only provider that offers a longer ring time - is to simply cancel voice mail entirely: So now, when I get a call that I can't/don't want to answer, I either have to wait until people hang up for the ring to stop, or I must press the Cancel button but callers get a busy signal so they know I didn't take the call :? Does the 8520 provide a way to mute the incoming ring manually for a given call so that it keeps ringing but I'm no longer bothered but it? Thank you. |

Thanks. I didn't know about the Mute button at the top, as I never use the 8520 to listen to music :-)

You can also hit one of the phone volume buttons on the side to mute the phone.

The user will never know you muted him. On his end the phone will continue to ring normally until he goes to voicemail.
If, during the ring, you hit the "End" button the caller will go directly to voicemail and will have a clue that you did this. His clue will be how quickly (how few rings) voicemail was activated. |
