Application for planets
 

PLEASE could somebody tell me if there is a really nice application for the BB 8900 that allows you to point your Blackberry towards the night sky to receive names of constellations or planets. My friend has one for her iphone and it is really great !! If there is such an App please post me the link.

I have tried the Starrynights for sky chart but I simply have no idea how the link works, and not even sure if it is up and running.

Hi there,

Yes I did but cannot find anything. I looked under 'Starry Night' which is for one model only (not the Curve 8900).

The internet shows 'Starry Night' for the Blackberry and, apparently making a 'come back' due to demand. It sounds awesome (just like the app for the iphone) but when I go into the link on my BB it tells me there is no such site.

Thankyou for your help. I think I must give up on this one because there obviously isn't an app like the one for the iphone, which is a pity. There is no developer that I can see. I went to the 'contact us' but it takes me through to something else - so I will not bother to persue this.

I hope in time that Blackberry do bring out an app for charting stars. Apparently with the iphone app, one points the phone at the sky and it shows you the names of the planets. So fantastic!!

There is an application like that (though not as nice as the iPhone/iPad app yet) that runs on the PlayBook. If the author continues to develop along the lines charted so far it will be very similar to the Apple app, and will run on BlackBerry 10 phones.
