Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.1716 / 7.1.0.569 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.1646 (Multilanguages)

Package Version: 7.1.0.1716
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.569
Software Platform: 5.1.0.415
File name: 9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel1716_PL5.1.0.415_A7.1.0.569_Clar o_Dominican_Republic.exe
File size: 257 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...07D9F6699D2DAC

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Same microphone bug as the last release. Second time replacing the phone. Will downgrade again to the version I had before, but disappointing that these official releases never work with AT&T phones.

Could be an AT&T thing?

It's looking like it. I could probably easily tell them it's broken 3 times and get a new mobile device, but which to get that's still BB. And I like the Bold.

Pritesh.

I wonder if the problem would still exist if you used an official AT&T build?

Main issue I have had with the last couple of builds is the radio... Was fine on earlier 7.1 and 7.0.... Let's see if this one improves it!!

The last AT&T Build was 9900M_PBr7.0.0_rel2392_PL5.0.0.733_A7.0.0.576_AT_T .exe, which is 7.0. The 7.1 I'm using is Bundle 1149, and that's been working so far, and I"m pretty sure that's not AT&T.

Re: Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.1716 / 7.1.0.569 (Multilanguage)

Hello, I am currently running on 7.1.0.1646 / 7.1.0.523. I can't seem to be getting my phone updated. Apploader cannot detect any new version so it doesn't show me the option for it to update.

Tried all the usual diagnostics:
Removed firmware file, re-installed.
BlackBerry Desktop Manager updated to the latest version.
Deleted vendor.xml

Any other way to get it to update? Highly appreciate help on this one.

Thanks,
n:CorE

There is a second vendor.xml file (it is likely hidden).
You have to find it and delete both of them.

Can someone please advise how to do unofficial upgrades on Mac? I still haven't figured this out.

As of today, AT&T still has not released an OS 7.1 for its 9900. I suspect the problem is with AT&T firmware or network not being compatible with OS 7.1, causing the microphone bug which I don't believe is an issue with any other carrier.

And no one knows when or if AT&T will release 7.1. The microphone bug isn't limited to the 9900.

Just loaded up .569 First time in a long time that there was not a second vendor.xml file in the hidden raoming folder. I thought it was a factor of Windows 7 as it has shown up forever with OS ungrades which I thought commenced about the time we switched to Windows 7. It looks like it may be a factor of the OS not Windows 7. Strange that it did not show up this time.
Activtion complete. Time to check this OS out.
