Icon based list mode theme on home screen
Hi
Can't find the answer to this... I saw a 8700 with a theme setting where it was in list style, but in stead of text options down the right had side there were full sized icons. How is that set up? Might it have had to be a special/custom theme? W |
ooh.. that might be a nice setup.. anyone who knows the answer might also be able to tell me how to change the size of the icons on the home screen.. the default cingular theme has 6 icons per line whereas all the other ones have 5. i like some of the other themes better, but don't want more lines of icons than will fit on the screen without scrolling.

Yes it was nice, as it means you can see most of the home screen background image :-)

Were the Icons full size? Were they for the built in apps or for third party apps? My theme only shows icons for the focused app and any third party apps, which I place so they don't show until I scroll down to that line of icons. Rcbjr You can see what I mean Here |
Yes, they looked full size, and for the standard apps. Like the list style themes but instead of a text based list down the screen on the left hand side that you scroll up and down, there were large icons...
Yes, like your example, but with a number of icons visible in a row (vertically)at once. Looks like it way indeed have been a theme they got from somewhere... W |

When scrolling, were the apps really only on the one side? I wonder if it wasn't really only an icon based theme with only those icons in the one column left at the full visibility and all the rest replaced with translucent icons. If you're intrested in neat themes, check out the Ringtones, Themes, and Wallpapers forum on this site. Hope this helps. Rcbjr |
Yes. I was told it was a theme by someone else. Question solved :-)

I sure would like to know who made it, and what tool they used. Sounds interesting. What did the battery and power indicators look like?

@wibbly: Is this the theme you saw?

It is called BB Dimension-Zen. The COD file is called net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod.
|
The theme is included in BlackBerry OS 4.1 package release 280 for the 8700. I am not sure if this theme was included in older releases.
|
Oooh... I want that theme!
|
I can't post a link to release package 280, but release 224 seems to also contain the theme. Therefore it is no problem to install the theme. Goto http://updateservice.t-mobile.net, select T-Mobile UK and login with the following credentials:
Username: tmobileuk Password: tmukbbcorp Select Home > Handheld > 8700 > Handheld Software 4.1.0.224. Download the firmware package for the 8700g and install it on to your pc. Copy the file net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.266_P2.0.0.111\Java to a temporary directory and upload it to your BB using javaloader.exe. |
If anyone gets this cod file could you please post it here. Thank you.

COD File
The COD file is 279.8 KB. Larger than the 97.7k limit here.
Anyone have a place to post it? |
