4.1 for TELUS 7520
 

I find no specific info here about 4.1 for TELUS 7520.

I contacted TELUS support and they told me that since the 7520 won't be available anymore soon, that's why 4.1 is not and probably won't be available on the download page (I wish I was able to give you the link but 10 posts before being able to post URL!?!?). Can you beleive this? What about all currents clients? Wonderful customer care! A second call told me they have a note that it should be available in May.

They also told me I can use the 4.1 for 7100i without problem. But I have a doubt, can anyone tell me if it's safe?

Also, from what I have found here, I think some of you have installed the 4.1 from NEXTEL. Is this also a good idea? Safe?

Which option you think is better?

1. i highly doubt that software for the 7100i will work on the 7520. the machines are way too different.
2. you might want to ask in the general forum. this one is more for software announces and problems related to them.

the nextel 7520 software might work. (i remember reading that telus does not allow it somehow. i dont know if the vendor.xml trick will work)

And it's a girl from their support department that told me to install 7100i but I highly doubt it will work fine.

What's that xml trick?

I use the nextel (4.1.0.273)7520 on my Telus with no problems what so ever
There is a thread that explains how on here to rename / delte the vendor.xml etc.

I guess this would be fin to try, it sounds like fun anyhow, but what would any benefts be?

I had called the Telus support line today and had a different query with respects to the BIS (I'll post about that later). Anyhow, I asked at the end when the support tech if there was anything else he could help and I said btw, when will 4.1 be released for the 7520. He basically checked and said nope don't see anything. Just keep checking and maybe they will release it.

I was able to DL it from the Telus website this past weekend. I've got it running now on my 7520. It slows the unit down quite a bit. Not sure I'll keep it. Other than a few minor changes, and the addition of Themes I don't find much different. I did notice the compose email function has changed a bit for the better :)
