Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

I took the plunge and upgraded to windows vista... Not sure that was the greatest move as I'm now stuck not being able to sync my blackberry...

Is there anyone else that has upgraded to windows vista and was able to get the desktop manager working with their berry

If history is any judge, you'll discover that RIM lags well behind on new releases of Windows and Office. I would be shocked if Desktop Manager worked properly on Vista.

Vista and the BDM

Stuck in the same boat myself. Interesting to see that Vista recognized and installed drivers for the BB and runs bdm but will not synch via cable or bluetooth. Insists that the device is not connected. I can discover the device in the Visa BT manager but this does not help the synch, and worse still the charging. Oh well, I gues that'll be the bleeding part of bleeding edge :)

Here's how I was able to do it. First, your bluetooth device must be set up using native Windows drivers. If you need help doing this, email at the address at the bottom. Second, you must copy the bth.inf from a Windows XP maching to replace the bth.inf file on the Vista machine. Again, email me if you need help. Lastly, follow the 'How To-Set up Bluetooth PC connectivity' article on Blackberry's web site (Article Number: KB-04132). I'm sorry I'm not more specific in this post, but it took me 2 days to figure this out and my mind is spent.

bad news w/ vista...

maybe when RC1 comes out, it will provide further compatibility.

unfortunately, if you have vista as your primary OS, you need to reinstall XP on a second partition to have BDM working properly.

i reinstalled XP SP2 just for that reason.

and if you want to run vista after installation, boot with the vista DVD and repair the startup options, this will bring the MBR back to vista and the ability to dual-boot into XP.

maybe you can boot into XP by day (and use redirector like i do when i'm at the office), and use vista at night w/ outlook.
