Return receipt from handheld not working?
 

An user sending message from Notes Client with "Return Receipt" checked.
However when the message opened by a BB user there is no return receipt back to the sender, what I missed?

Can anyone advise?

I do not think this ever work when you open the message on the BlackBerry. But if the receipient opens the message in Lotus Notes, the Return Receipt document is reconciled with the BlackBerry.

The only type of "receipt" you can do is a Delivery Confirmation when the messages is delivered to the BlackBerry. If you put a "<confirm>" in the beginning of your subject, you'll be able to see when the BES delivers the message to the BlackBerry.

Is this the case even if you're running the latest and greatest version of the BES? Or do return receipts work when opened on the BB if your BES server is running 4.1 SP2 or higher?

No, with the latest version of BES the functionality hasn't changed. Return receipts don't work.
