New Blackberry for Alltel???

Heard that Alltel will be getting a new CDMA/GSM Blackberry sometime this summer.

Anyone know what model or have a better idea of the release date?

Thanks

dude alltel is like a year behind everyone, sorry to say. drop your service and get t-mobile/cingular/verizon/or even sprint

GatorBerry 04-22-2007 01:27 AM

I know.. I know... but cost-wise -- especially with a family plan -- Alltel seems to have the best deal, economically. So I'm stuck with them!

Apparently they like to take their time 'testing' new phones before releasing them. Hence the delay of their release of the Motorola Q, for instance... and I might add that I may resort to the Q if the new BB isn't coming out for a while. We shall see...

NJBlackBerry 04-22-2007 05:16 AM

Have you ever tried the Q? Not a great device.

kmccarthy 04-22-2007 12:34 PM

exactly. i mean wm5 is slow and buggy. but wm5 smartphone is just crap and is like twice as slow...

Don't know about the OP, but tmo and cingular are paperweights where I live and work. Verizon is ok where I work, but doesn't have very good service where I live.

Them being behind on new models definitely sucks, but I wouldn't trade services.

Altell may be last but hey by the time they get the devices bugs are worked out most of the time. They will get better as they grow in subscriber base. remember he who gets devices first spends more (can order more) or they have better negotiators

1) Q Sucks

2) Altell has made significant improvements on getting cooler devices quicker

3) Alltel should be coming out with an 8800 model this summer, just the word on the street;-)

ther customer ervice blows "thank you for calling altel customer service we are curently closes our hourse ar 10 to 4 eastern time"

Im not kidding they are that bad.

altels stor cutomers swear at you
cause thers only 2 reps in the entire store. Also altel is notorious fr dropping calls even more tjhan sprint reson is they don't have the network in the 90s when they used a boomerang network they had the same problem. hlf the time yourroaming on sprint an dvorizens towers.
Dump them as soon as your contracts up.

jbairdjr 05-11-2007 11:48 PM

Its funny. I have used Alltel and Cingular (ATT) and here in Nebraska they are the best hands down.
I've never had anyone in the store swear at me. I have called customer service at night and they answer the phones.
And, Alltel and Verizon do share towers, but Sprint has nothing to do with them.
Alltel is not any worse than any other carrier, and quite frankly, their plans are much cheaper than Sprint or Verizon.

I spend three painful days with the Q before taking it back to the store, when I was still with Sprint. I finally said forget this, and jumped to AT&T for the Pearl.

You should try and read your posts before hitting the Submit Reply key.
Seriously... You lose credibility when your posts are unreadable.

Just a suggestion.

ok pure and simple. ALTEL IS GHETTO AND THE SERVICE BLOWS.

seriously i would rate sprint higher then altel.
heck i would rate cricket higher than altel.

NJBlackBerry 05-13-2007 03:36 AM

A little better, but I believe the carrier is Alltel, and not altel.

jbairdjr 05-14-2007 12:25 AM

I still believe that YOUR opinion that Alltel is the worst service around is just your opinion.
Here in Nebraska, Alltel bought two local carriers outright, combining their networks. I have EVDO coverage almost statewide.
Sprint has towers in the Lincoln and Omaha area, and along the Interstate, but otherwise, its roam, roam, roam.
I understand a bad experience with a carrier, but at least here they are the cheapest carrier with state wide EVDO.

Tmo is cheaper than Altel. Ev-do is the only thing keeping customers attracted to cdma carriers.

The compant I work for uses altel.

Our safty director took a trip to salt lake city . Coudn't get any service onless he roamed on sprint or vorizen's nets. Also I hear compaints about dropped calls. From other co workers.

So NO It is NOT just my oppinion.

There are places where ANY carrier is better than others. I can name at least a dozen places in MD/DC/VA area that Verizon/Sprint is better than Cingular/Tmobile, and another dozen where the reverse is correct. The most important thing is to find a service that works. Past that, phones are nice to have, but even IF you had the latest device, with the best features, it really doesnt amount to a hill of beans if all you can use the device for is a paper weight. Alltel has made great strides recently, and has poured a great deal of money into marketing and cutting costs. I cannot remember off hand where I saw the article, but there is a possibility of them selling the company to one of the larger CDMA carriers, or, I believe, a group of private investors. As a whole, Alltel does well in the areas where they work.

Unreadable posts

It would be nice if some of us would just use the spell checker option.

It won't replace a good solid education, but it can help to make the posts readable, at least if the words are close to what the writer is typing. And it's only a click away.

I hate to think what our language will look like in another 5 years with so many of us spending so much time texting gibberish back and forth.

Is there hope?
