BIS 2.3 will cause calendar reminders not to work on Curve.

I have done testing all morning on both the 8800 and Curve and can confirm that on the Curve with tmobile the CICAL service books will cause the calendar appoinments not to work.

The work around for now is to delete the CICAL service books and leave the CMIME. Obviously yhe CICAL affect the calendar.

The problem does not exist on my 8800. I am not sure if this happens with ATT as I am on tmobile using BIS 2.3.

If you look at your service books and don't have the CICAL books for your email accounts this will not apply to you as you are prob on 2.0 still.

I want 2.0 back!

this is for BES I presume and not BIS right?

Inphektion 06-02-2007 07:53 PM

No, the opposite. This is for BIS, not BES.

richard371 06-03-2007 10:45 AM

Delete all the CICAL service books for personal emails and reboot. The problem goes away. I don't need BIS meeting requests anyway.

Did the CICAL service book stay deleted? I have the reminder problem now also. I did as you said and I am testing it now to see if my reminders work again. Very upsetting bug but I don't see many people talking about it.

stayfocused302 06-05-2007 09:38 PM

so you are saying go into service books>delete email accts and re-set them up?(is that what you mean by reboot?)

richard371 06-05-2007 10:01 PM

Just the service book that say CICAL beside them. I have no problem now with them gone. Still get my BIS email.

mikeruoc 06-06-2007 04:50 AM

Deleting the CICAL book worked. So I have all my reminders again.

I dont get it - if I delete the CICAL accounts (email accounts) I wont have any email accounts!

richard371 06-06-2007 09:36 AM

Yes you will. Just don't delete the CMIME books. CICAL are for accepting BIS calendar requests.

Thanks for the info. I will be deleting mine.

stayfocused302 06-06-2007 01:26 PM

so now i guess until this bug gets worked out, no calendar requests? i guess u have to weigh your priorities...either reminders or calendar requests, right?

nickp 06-06-2007 05:43 PM

Just to clarify, if you do a local sync to Outlook on your laptop, or if you enter a calendar event with reminder on your Curve, the reminders will work. The only time they will not work is if a calendar event is entered on the BIS calendar and sent OTA to the BB.

Correct?

richard371 06-06-2007 05:51 PM

I am on BES and enter my events in outlook or on the Blackberry. As long as my BIS CICAL service books where there none of my reminders worked.

Spiffyis5150 06-06-2007 07:52 PM

Richard is right on. You have to delete the BIS CICAL service books to get reminders. I also had to do a hard reset(aka pull the battery) in addition to deleting the service books to get mine working again.

fkjr2 06-06-2007 10:37 PM

I did as you said - deleted CICAL's - pulled battery - but now I have 0 calender events !! What the f*** !

sonic117 06-06-2007 10:50 PM

sorry to hi-jack the thread but as for all us Curve owners, are we all automatically on the BIS 2.3 version?

Also, how do I delete these CICAL service books??? I am new to the BB world.

Thanks!

Did you delete only the BIS CICALS? The BES CICAL(aka Desktop CICAL) needs to stay. You'll have a BIS CICAL for each BIS account setup. In my case, I deleted mycingular.blackberry.net and gmail.com CICAL and then hard reset.

Actually, not just Curve owners, but all North American Blackberry owners. The BIS upgrade is done by your carrier and all the carriers in NA did the upgrade to 2.3 last weekend. It just so happens that us Curve owners have hit a bug where the code on our Blackberries and the BIS 2.3 interaction are causing problems.

Options->Advanced->Service Books

Select the Service book(don't delete your Desktop CICAL) you want to delete and then hit the menu button and select Delete.
