2.5mm 3-cond pinouts & external audio

I'm trying to connect the earphone audio output from a 7230/7280 2.5mm port to an external amplifier, pc, etc. When the test plug is inserted however, the internal speaker isn't muted, as when using a handsfree earphone/mic combo. Where might I find the pinouts also?

The BB must be looking for a load on the ear/mic cable.

Any info appreciated.

Im having the same problem I bought a radio shack adapter and it isn't doing squat. I plug it in and the internal speaker continues to play...

External speaker sense...

I'll experiment this week, and measure the resistance of the mic and earphone of a generic headset(that works). The bb must be looking for a load on both mic & speaker at once. I'll post my results.

We probably have the same adapter and I am in the same situation as you. It doesn't do jack! I think it's really crappy that RIM couldn't have put a STANDARD 3.5mm jack on the BB (just like pretty much ALL MP3 players have).

I wonder how hard it would be to take apart the BB and install your own 3.5 jack?
