Guide: How to read Chinese on your 8800 with the latest Rogers OS.
I got the problem fixed with 4.2.1.138 OS from rogers.
1, First install 4.2.1.138 Roger OS. 2, Load two .alx files for the simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese fonts - I extract those two files from an older OS. Email me if you are interested in those two files (only 800k). |
My method is easier
Just download the Hong Kong CSL (Chinese) version.
When installing it, set your location into Hong Kong. Then you can read Chinese in GB or Big5; you will also have Chinese Pingying Input method and five other Chinese input methods. |
Yes, that's easier and that's what I did before, but you won't get 4.2.1.138 Roger or other fancy latest OS. Use my method, you will get the latest OS and Chinese. ;-)

Can this work on the Curve too from ATT wireless?

Could you send me the two Chinese alx please?
Hi, Dahan,
Could you send me the two Chinese alx please? I just upgraded to vondafone, and lost the capacity to read Chinese again! I tried to downgrade back to Hongkong CSL, but like getting a disease, downgrading is possible, the Chinese fonts are gone forever, together with the Pinyin inputs  It will be great if you also extract the Pinyin input 8-) |

i assume it can work on a T-Mobile BB 8800 using Mac OS as well? 'appreciate your help! |
I believe you also need all the .COD file which the .ALX file refer/pointed to.
COD file is inside C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8800-vx.x.x.x_Px.x.x.xx\Java This is a list of COD require for my 4.2.1.138 Hong Kong CSL installation net_rim_bb_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_bb_diagnostic_resource__zh.cod net_rim_bb_diagnostic_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_bb_options_chinese.cod net_rim_font_chinese.cod net_rim_font_chinese_hong_kong.cod net_rim_platform_im_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_platformapps_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN_WuBiHua.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN_Pinyin.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN_CangJei.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK_Jyutping.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK_CangJei.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK.cod net_rim_platform_resource__zh_TW_CangJei.cod net_rim_runtime_resource__zh_CN.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_jni_UPR.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_wubi.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_CangJeiSimpl.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_CangJei.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_Jyutping.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_jni_core.cod net_rim_tid_chinese_cj_core.cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_chinese_CN_wordlist. cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_CN_Pinyin_shortcuts. cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_chinese_Wubizixing_w ordlist.cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_chinese_HKJ_wordlist .cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_HK_Jyutping_shortcut s.cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_chinese_TW_CangJei_w ordlist.cod net_rim_tid_dynamic_transcoding_data_Big5_HKSCS.co d net_rim_tid_dynamic_transcoding_data_EUC_CN.cod The easiest way is to just install the whole OS instead of mix and match the ALX and COD file, it can be done manaully, but very time consuming. |
