i'm looking to purchase an sd card for my pearl.. and i was wondering which one is the correct one to purchase.

i know its a mirco sd... but i've seen quite a few different ones

SanDisk microSD™ 2GB

is that a compatable sd card. and if not could someone help out with pointing me in the right direction

Yes, this one is compatible. The Pearl can support a maximum of 2GB, I believe.

The Pearl can support 4Gb (and maybe higher) with the latest OS.

That will do it then.

If you buy online, such as Amazon, be real careful when clicking the chip to buy. It's real easy when selecting the chip to caught up in price and not notice that the chip you are selecting is a "MiniSD" and NOT a "MicroSD."

Some members have accidentally purchased a miniSD when meaning to buy a microSD for the Pearl, that's why I mention it.

And yes, the Pearl supports 4GB. See threads discussing that.

Nowadays a 2Gb chip should only cost you about $25 or less.

You might want to consider this item. I bought three of them and for the price the included USB reader/writer is a bargain. That little reader/writer is super small and really cool.

i bought one of these

Newegg.com - Kingston 2GB MicroSD Flash Card Model SDC/2GB - Retail

my pc has a memory card reader for different formats so the added usb thing would just be another thing around the place for me.

Hey Frisco, do you have a link where I can find a good deal on a 4gb card? Thanks.

Don't call it "Frisco."http://www.heartinsanfrancisco.com/anifingerwag.gif

With all the fake stuff out there, my safer bet is going with an established seller. If I was in the market for a 4Gb chip, I'd go back to Amazon or that eBay seller I bought from before.

On Amazon I like that "eMartBuy" vendor as he has sent me genuine chips at low prices. On eBay I forgot the name of the seller, but he also sold on Amazon.

But I don't know what is a "good deal" to you. When we were discussing 4Gb chips in my thread, a few weeks ago, members were complaining that the 4Gb chips were not $55 even though I sent them links where it was for sale at $7 more than I paid before the chips became popular.

Now they are about $90++ the last time I checked.

It's your friggin lucky day. That good seller that I bought from, on both eBay and Amazon [NextWebSales], has listed more of these for sale. I think he ran out of them before and he since raised his price to $64 [I got mine for about $55, when he first listed them and we determined that the Pearl can use a 4GB].

As I recall, some members complained that his $64 price was too much because they wanted to pay $55 like I did [or even less, I think they want 4GB to be priced at $25 or less]. Bunch of skinflint whiners. They can wait 6 months for the price to go down.

Anyway, here is the link on Amazon. I note that eMartBuy is also selling them now, for $62. But I did not buy the 4GB chip from him, I got mine from NextWebSales.

I just purchased the 4Gb card from eMartBuy. I sent pics and serial numbers through SanDisk's website to verifiy the authenticity of eMartBuy's 4Gb microSD card after receiving it. He is, as SanFran states, selling authentic cards. A good buy at $55 + $8 for shipping.

I don't know about the 4GB max!!
Check out this thread, SanFran found a 64GB "SCANDISK" the pic is close to the bottom of the thread...
