Parallel's Nope...Vmware Fusion...Yup
It seems that for me, I could not get the BB 8830 to see the usb in Parallels, but in VMware Fusion works great.
Parallels saw the RIM Device, but the desktop manager would not work. With VMWare there are no issues with anything, including backing up, etc. Just thought I would mention it. I have a MCP Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB Ram |
Same for me. Works fine with Fusion.

Reloading the OS on an 8700c with 4.2 OS worked fine but I ran into a problem with my 8800.

Ditto here. Vmware Fusion recognizes my BB device but when connecting the BB using Parallels all I get is "USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another application."
I have left messages on the Parallels forum but nobody seems to have a clue. I have also had other USB problems with Parallels. At times USB devices are recognized, other times they fail. I'll stick with VMware for now. |

Recently I purchased fusion from VMware. I was actually able to find several phone numbers for them and had no problem calling them to help me with a license issue I had at first, great support. The product also seems really good. Mike |
both = nope for me. kernel panic's ahoy

I have not had any luck with parallels either, I think I will buy Fusion, since the 30 day test is going great.
I did find this regarding parallels, but it didn't work me. Using the Blackberry Desktop Manager in Parallels (WinXP) on Mac - Marker Blog, The Demand Creation Agency |
I had Parallels and currently have a 3.0 license, I did recently move to VMware Fusion for some features they offer and speed issues I was having under Tiger. Now Parallels has some great features like allowing your music and photo's to be viewed on the Windows side which would be nice for syncing the BB.
I am running Fusion 1.1 on Tiger 10.5.1 and pretty much no real issues. I did set up my 16GB partition to 2GB chunks to prevent a huge part of my MBP from being gobbled up. I only use windows for the BB related items. |
This is very interesting as I am a Mac only guy..
And get basic data sync going with The Missing Sync So come back up or sync time do you just use Vmware Fusion for eeverything? Will it reach out to connect with Apple Address book? Apple Calendar? Or will I have to hop back over to The Missing Sync to do that still? Many thanks in advance,, |
my only problem with fusion has been not with fusion really but with my win xp pro! I lost the dern serial numbers! I have no idea if windows keeps records on them for me or not. I have to empty out a closet to search for the drat old win box now.....
windows still makes me crazy! |
ha! I found the drat install serial number thingy. I didnt think I would ever find it or even want to! VM fusion was great. It loaded my win xp pro easily and pretty quickly. I think it runs betetr on my iMac than it ever did on a pc!
I downloaded the 4.3 BB desktop but have not tried it yet. any traps to watch out for or should it just plain work? VM fusion is really neat! |
I tried Parallels again this weekend as a separate VM and I do like how they integrated their coherence option but it was impossibly slow despite setting it for the Windows side being favored in the processor etc.
Ultimately I removed it again and installed VMware and put my saved VM back on. Too bad Parallels has some nice features but performance is key. |
