I've seen these two types of batteries online for sale:

1800 mAh LiIo
1000 mAh LiIo

I assume the higher numbered mAh battery provides more life.

Yes, you can access AOL IM from your 8700.
I have used Ramble (free) and also tested YAK (not free). Both seem to login to AOL IM.
