I used to work for BellSouth Mobility which became Cingular then ATT. The Best Buy contract has a cancellation fee which is different from the carrier fee. It would be very expensive to cancel too...

I purchased a Curve in May. Canceled my VZW...
I purchased a Curve in May. Canceled my VZW account in September and sold it on ebay for $300+. Paid my $175 term fee and went to another carrier. Nothing brought up about retail price of phone.
