yes could be. I will deffo keep this thread updated. Hopefully version 6 will sort it but who knows. I can live with it at the mo cause I don't turn it off unless I am going to bed and my alarm turns...

cheers Ali fair enough comments. the alt-shift key problems fixed themselves. The downgrading of the OS fixed the lock/unlock problem. BUT I still can't start the blackberry without doing a battery...

reverted to 5.0.0.586 last night and now have my unlock button back. Hopefully a future update will sort it for good

My lock button unlocks in the last OS but not the current one. It only locks in the current one (all this explained in my original post). Hope that clarifies things. I think I will semi permanently...

ok. Lets say I leave it for a week to dry in optimum conditions (even though I know its not moisture....) and it still wasn't fixed what would be the next step?

Hasn't fixed it. I left it to dry all last night but there no signs of moisture. Very very odd.

I was in paris where it was very cold and occasionally raining but nothing unusual. I also don't remember dropping it. Do you think this is a hardware issue even though the lock button works to lock...

On saturday night the "keypad is locked" message wouldn't go away so I did a battery pull. Ever since (and I've seen a few people on forums with similar problems) I've had 3 problems
1) The top left...
