Folder Redirection -- Deleted Items

Hello everyone,
Background: BES 4.3 testing (not in production); BlackBerry being introduced for first time to our company; Currently end-users using Treos via Good.
Question: In the Folder Redirection area, the Deleted Items check box is "dashed" out meaning it will not allow synching to/from the mailbox. I asked our Admin if it can be made available (because i suspect our users will want to have these deleted emails available just as they are now with their Treos).
The Admin said "no, deleted items can not be synched by design, and there is no way to allow it to sync".
His answer made me curious, thus I ask you all: Is the design he is talking about the Product BES Design or our internal Design?
Is it not possible at all for deleted items to synch between handheld and mailbox? And if it is, how difficult is it to setup the synch for Deleted Items?
