Actually, that is incorrect. You can do it that way, but it is not required.
And it is not the BlackBerry device PIN, it is separate PIN provided for the WiFi security.

Instead, I used the Shared Key security, and created my own, and it is not entered into the router, but entered in the BlackBerry when requested on setup.
