It is how the administrators of the BES controls what is allowed and not allowed to be done on BBs connected to your company network (BES). It is the policy that prevents you from installing third party apps. Once a policy is installed, you need to have it replaced with a blank policy sent to get full function back. Your admins probably won't send you one and still allow connection to the BES, although you may be special, since you say you won't get fired.

Some of the details here may be slightly off as I'm not a BES admin, so someone correct me if I am.
