I would venture (which means I am taking a shot in the dark here) to say that becuase while bluetooth is becoming more popular, it isn't as developed as it should be. Most headsets go to standby mode after a period of inactivity. One headset that I can think of that I have had no issues with was the Motorola H500. Even if it went to standby I rarely had issues with it. BUT I still experienced some problems.
It would be my guess that once BT HS's become better and bluetooth versions become more adapted, you should see significant gains. I mean, A BT HS dropping signal after 30 feet. Thats not really that far and you cant tell me that there is no room for improvement there.
