Yah that init string was what was put in my Fedora Core here, I've never had to touch it. My guess is that S60 handsets just silently ignore that garbage. You don't actually *need* any of it, this isn't a real modem (ok it is, but you know what I mean). A simple 'ATZ' should suffice I think...
