7100 plug and play for rogers?

My next door nabour who is a stock analist in toronto says his boss is a Blackberry junkie. When he heard about the 7100 he ordered one from the states, installed his simm card from rogers and "bang" it came to life with no problems. Does anyone know if this can be done?
I am going to follow-up on this and get him to check out all the details from his boss. (its a shame i'm with Telus)
