I used my wife`s Bold last night on Wi-Fi and the icon was greyed out. What`s significant about that is that it`s not even activated on the Bell network yet (that doesn`t happen until the 25th). If you`re picking up an IP# from your router, then you`re most likely using Wi-Fi. I don`t put a lot of stock in the icon despite the fact my personal Bold is showing a white icon while I`m at home.
