I'm also wondering about speeds. I just switched from an HTC HD2 and I'm getting about 1/5 the speed through tethering that I would get from the HD2 (enough to stream netflix HD).
I really appreciate your taking the time to put up instructions though! Some tethering is better than no tethering at all.
