RESOLVED: Some very helpful people at RIM (Partner Operations, Research in Motion (UK) Ltd ) were able to contact Vodafone on my behalf.
RIM had them remove the BIS service for my device, effectively deleting me from Voda UK entirely. I was then able to successfully use the Rogers BWC client to connect myself to the right services in Canada.
Hooray for RIM (again) and especially Ravi & Clare.
