Default Can I get this BB to work for me...?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help but I have a feeling this will go nowhere...

My BB's screen got badly cracked last week. I've no insurance, so I've got to pay out for a new one.

However my friend is a cab driver, and he just gave me a BB that was left in the back of his cab in August. He said as nobody has asked for it by now they're unlikely too.

So I put my sim in and turned it on after a wee charge and the screen has a box pop up saying 'Device is locked' with three options below that: Unlock, Emergency, and cancel. There is also a lock symbol in the bottom right hand corner.

I guess this is the security thing for when the phone is lost or stolen. Is there anyway around it...?

It probably doesn't help that I'm with Orange and this is a Virgin Mobile phone, or does that not make a diiference...?

Seems like a waste of a handset if nothing can be done....

The device has a password, which you must know in order to unlock it.

I wouldn't touch another person's phone, if it were me. If they report it stolen to RIM, they can prevent it from being used again, and you'd be in possession of stolen property.
