Default sms issues

Please Login to Remove!

Currently running 5.0.0.545...

*Last text received in sms will randomly disappear
*Unable to open thread from the last person to send me an sms

All this will of course be temp fixed if I reboot the phone, sometimes if i go to compose sms text i can type the contacts name to enter the sms thread or I send a mms message so they'll reply back in sms.

anyone else having these problems? Ive had these problems with my 9000 and now my 9700 in all 5.0 os's

I have the same problem, but its not as often though...

hopefully RIM will get the clue that the SMS system on the Bold OS is just buggier than my garage... and that is BUGGY.

Sounds like a memory problem.. When memory gets low, the device will start deleting things like SMS, phone logs, email, etc.

Do you have a lot of apps installed?

How much free memory do you have?

I only have quick pull, slacker, facebook, pandora, and google maps installed. I have 121.2 mb of free space. It doesn't actually delete the sms messages the thread just locks you out of seeing it.

i get this problem too and Im quite sure its nothing to do with memory on the phone. If there are a lot of text messages in the conversation thread, then it locks. Sometimes it unloacks its self and others the only thing to do is delete the thread. Orange technical support were useless..

I too started getting SMS issues when i upgraded to v5.0.0.545

I couldn't open the largest thread/conversation 90% of the time, and i also couldn't open any 'individual' Saved Messages from that thread 90% of the time. Imagine getting a new message from your most frequently texted contact, and not being able to open the thread! Very irritating

Trying a 'Compose To' with the contact wouldn't let me in either. Nor would it work if i tried to go through 'View Folder' - 'SMS Inbox' and trying to open a message from there.

One thing i did find is that if i did a battery pull, i could then get into the longest thread i have (at least 100 messages long) straight away, but as soon as I'd scroll up through the thread, or open an older saved message from that thread - it would lock me out of the thread as soon as i had exited it

I also found that if i did get into the thread and i scrolled up to the top to the oldest messages there were more recent messages mixed amongst them! This seemed completely random - and once again seemed to not happen the first time i'd go into the thread after a battery pull. It's like the messages get thrown out of order somehow when i'd scroll up.

My 9700 was perfect on v5.0.0.344, apart from the squashed BBM messages in my SMS/MMS box showing up as a thin 1 pixel blue line - which i thought would have been fixed - and was the reason i went to update. Things did feel better after the update (Google Maps, Youtube streaming working, i kind of like the new key lock), but a problem like this SMS one i simply can't live with

I've now downgraded/reverted back to v5.0.0.344 - and my SMS issues are all gone and working perfectly again

Please post in this thread if you are having a similar issue since upgrading. Would be good to get an idea of how many people are affected by this

Wirelessly posted

I found this thread by searching, and I'm sorta glad I'm not the only one with these issues. I'm using a 9000 with OS 5.0.0.592. I take it that downgrading fixes these issues?

all the new os's have this problem and yet has been fixed. I'm currently running .680 as .743 doesn't notify voicemail's while in use with ATT. I can't remember even using .344 to verify that this issue is non existent in that OS and nor do I feel like downgrading. I had the same problem with my 9000 so it has to be a OS problem but as previously stated it only affects your most texted contact(s). I wished it only happened a few times a month but its an everyday issue for me.
