On your homescreen you will notice the WiFi symbol is bright white, not gray.

Unhappy Still not working

I have looked at the sign however its grey in colour and i do get an IP address in status whenever i browse the top right hand corner has GPRS in bold White and the arrow going back and forth is White in colour ?

It seems like the browsing is being done over the service provider network.

The arrow is right.. But it should say WiFi and not EDGE or GPRS..

Try a reboot (alt + right shift + del) or battery pull.
GPRS isn't even data capable Afaik

ok guys ... heres the low down

I have now checked the following

My wifi profile is showing full signal however it has a circle with a white horizontal line in it.

WIFI selection mode is on Automatic

Default browser is set to Hotspot Browser

On Manage Connections I have a Green tick on Mobile network however a horizontal white line next to WIFI and Bluetooth.

I have done the master reset and then tried browsing again however it still shows GPRS in White with a arrow for send and receive beside it.

Regards

Harry

You are still not connected to WiFi. Try making the selection to you WiFi manually.

done the ping on a self selection and that comes back successful and then the horizontal line turned into a green tick now it says wifi while surfing the browser

Default Same problem

I am having a similar problem with WiFi.

I have an IP address showing when I check the status but still have a grey wifi logo.

I Tried pinging from my computer and got 100% loss.

I can tell that the traffic is going over my cellular network rather than my wifi because I can hear the signal when the BB is placed near my computer speakers. (that's always fun)

What info can I give to try and get som help with this?

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry to ask what I'm sure is a dumb question, but I've been having identical problems: How do I do a "ping on a self selection"?

Connect to the Wifi network first

Options > Wi-Fi Connections > select the connected network > Hit the menu key > Wi-Fi tools > Ping > Ping Type > Self

You can type in your computer's IP here.

The white dash means you are NOT connected. IF you go to diagnostic on that network (and go to advance), then you will likely see that there is a red cross connected to the blackberry infrastructure. I personally don't know much about what that means, but when I change my router WPA from AES to TKIP, it started to work. Maybe you can give that a try as well.
BTW, the white dash means you are connected to the router, so all then pings/DNS lookup will still work.
