Got a tour a while ago from VZW...LOVE IT! Only problem is no the keyboard and trackball has stopped working. Seems i managed to get the thing wet by accidentally putting a bag of ice on it...yay for parties...anyways...The phone still boots up when you put the battery in. Screen still comes on and it goes through the motions to the home screen. Just when you get there neither the trackball or keypad works. What got fried? I want to buy the replacement parts which is why I'm asking. I've made it a...personal challenge?...i guess is the word... for myself.

Any help is greatly appreciated as i would hate to pitch this phone.

Probably needs more than replacement parts. Water and a BB do not mix whatsoever. Plus you left it on/turned it on before it was fully dried out (takes 4 to 5 days in a bag of rice) which makes it worse.

My experience tells me that even if you manage to get the track ball and keypad working, you will end up with more problems making it not worth the investment. the best bet is to get a new device.

But if you insist, use Google to find the parts. eBay might also be a source. Here is a link to a repair center I found using Google Search. I want to refurb it. Call it a choice of hobby. It boots up fine but the keyboard and ball dont work. My question is...what parts do i get. Like you give me names of the parts that i could try to replace? I appreciate you help.

I have no idea what you will need. I do not use nor do I own a 9630. Start with taking it apart. You know the keypad and trackball do not work, go from there. My guess is that you will need a lot more than you think you will.

BTW, we are in no way connected to RIM. We are all volunteers. So if you are thinking that we have the parts list, we do not.

Perhaps a 9630 owner will stop by, read this and offer suggestions.

O i read a decent amount of the forums before i posted so i know your not affiliated. I appreciate all the advice. Ill start with the trackball and key pad. the Mobo is still good so i can go from there. THANKS!
