Default BBM with no data

Please Login to Remove!

I have Tmobile
and i never purchased a bb dataplan but i am able to have full usage of bbm but no regular internet services.
I know plenty of bb users that do not have data plans and they cannot use bbm
How is this possible??

It's not possible.
You have a data plan.

Maybe a billing error on your carrier's part and you're not getting charged.
It's definitely provisioned though.

It is possible to use BBM with no data plan assuming you're connected to a wifi network. A friend of mine has no data plan but using BBM when he is connected. If not, then there is some billing issue.

No, it's not.
BBM requires a data plan, as it requires authentication to RIM's infrastructure. Even via WiFi, you still need BlackBerry data of some kind.
No way around it.

Not necessarily. Some carriers offer BlackBerry Data plans for messaging only.

It is very possible. Within the native browser, there is a bookmark which allows you to push a service book for wifi transport. Take a look on your 9700 in the bookmark folders. I have a 9700 too so I know it can be done

My friend had BBM working via WiFi and I had the data plan disconnected. Never called T-Mobile to change her account but once I upgraded the OS she wasn't able to use BBM anymore without the data plan.

It was something on the phone at the time that was allowing communication through BBM. It wasn't anything on my account that was left on by mistake.

If by some chance that the PIN and IMSI is associated with the providers administration provisioning site and has the BIS routing enabled there; would it be possible what this user is getting?

No, it can't be done. You're talking about something unrelated to BlackBerry Messenger.
The WiFi service book is for the Hotspot Browser only.
You won't be able to use this functionality for BBM, unless you have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Yes, it's possible... and this is what I suggested above when I said there was a billing issue.
The data plan exists... but the user isn't being billed for it.

You have a data plan. Simple as that.
BBM and Facebook are RIM-signed apps, and require Blackberry Data. Can't use either of them without it.

Yes, that will allow you to use BBM as well as MMS and maybe some other things. Email and Browser won't work without the full BB data plan.
