Default so i just got an 8100

Please Login to Remove!

i got it from my cousin who was on at&t
but im on tmobile

ive spent the last hour or so researching on how to unlock my phone so that i may use my current service

ive found out how to unlock it and what i must do

the thing that bothers me is the way i go about doing this

why would i or anyone for that matter pay someone $30+ to put my imei number thru a algorithm that spits out a code?
thats a rip off! an utter rip off
this is a service that should be next to free, it certainly doesnt require any effort
it seems to me this is an entirely automated process

but now my predicament is this:

i called att for the code, they said it wasnt available and that they would make a case no. and would have to contact the manufacturer for the code.
and that the manufacturer would send me an email (WTF?) with some code on it, and then i would have to fax that back to att, and then they would call me and tell me the number i needed to enter to unlock my phone

so i said unacceptable

i called blackberry
they said that they dont have the codes and that only the service provider has them, and that i needed to call them

so it seems to me this entire process is nothing more than a scam

what say you?

Check the link in my signature for an excellent deal on unlock codes for your BB. ATT is one of the least expensive for unlocking.

+1

Horizon does good work. Alternately, depending on where you live, some dodgy cell phone repair shops can probably do it for you for cheap, there are a ton of them here in New York.

as it turns out the girl i was talking to didnt enter in my imei number correctly
when i called back today i spoke with some one and got it unlocked right away

i still dont see why people would pay a third party for this service when you can get it for free from the service provider

unless of course you stole the phone
