I have got the old BB 8520. It doesnt respond as good as it used to. The middle scrolling button usually doesnt work and i cant click on certain things such as emails, but can on other applications.
It sometimes freezes and resets itself... is this because its old?!

You probably have too many applications installed, and it is old.

Apparently my problem is unique! Recently I downloaded Blackberry Protect in order to have my data secured. Instead of that happening, the App downloaded to about 86% and then I got a white screen with Error 552: Reload software. Needless to say all my important information was gone. As if this was not enough, the reloading of the software did not yield a useful phone. As soon as you start typing an email or sms and you use the back space, it is like the button is stuck and it just keeps on back spacing till the whole message is gone. This sometimes starts automatically as well! Then you must type faster than the phone back spaces in order to get the message down! I wiped the phone, reloaded software, upgraded the OS, downgraded the OS, but nothing fixes this. Any help please? And why did Blackberry Protect of all Apps crash the system?

Can't see why you conclude BlackBerry Protect crashed the system. Obviously there are other things going on.

Sounds like maybe the keypad has developed a problem, or there has been some physical damage from shock, or liquid damage. Either of these may have originated the 552 error, I would think, but don't know.

If liquid exposure is a possibility you need to remove the battery now, dry the device thoroughly, and then test once, and only after, you have thoroughly dried the device. See blackberryfaq.com.
