I bought a 8700c about a month ago. My company has finally decided to spring for a BIS (only) Blackberry for me. The problem is that it will be NEXTEL and my 8700 is on Cingular.

My first thought was to use the 8700 for data and my personal phone number and forward all company calls to the 8700. The only problem is that NEXTEL charges $0.20 per minute for calls forwarded other than to voicemail. If I forward all of the Cingular calls to the NEXTEL, I will lose all of the benefits that I enjoy on the 8700c.

My company will only go through NEXTEL. Are there any plans that NEXTEL has that do not charge for call forwarding? If not, what are your thoughts on what to do?

Get the 7100i and use that as your work phone on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, not BlackBerry Internet Service. I am not sure what their plans are so you will have to call Nextel and find that out. Keep your 8700c as your personal phone on the BlackBerry Internet Service. Good luck.

Doubtful Nextel will stop charging for call forwarding. The company won't reimburse you for expenses on Cingular?
