Default Transfering to SIM card

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry 7290 (Cingular), but am getting a newer model later today. Since I've had my 7290, I've added and edited quite a large number of contacts.

I've been looking and looking, but can't find a way to transfer all of my contacts onto my SIM card. I lost the user guide during a recent move, and don't feel like sitting on the phone for half an hour with Cingular Customer Support if I can help it.

Anyone got a quick answer? Thanks.

(Couldn't find this thread anywhere else, either. I searched).

Why not install Desktop Manager and do a Backup from the old BB and a restore to the new BB.. No need to mess around with the SIM card.

Well, I did do a backup, but I would also like to have it on the SIM card. I won't keep this Blackberry forever, so one day it's going to need to be on the SIM. And I may... MAY, even get a Treo instead of a new BB today =/ We'll see.

It's not possible to write to the SIM...it's read only in Blackberries.

Just in case I do get the Treo, is there anyway to convert the BB backup file to... well, whatever the Treo uses?

The BB really doesn't use a SIM like a phone, the address book is stored internally not on a SIM. You can save SIM numbers to the addressbook, but I don't see a way to go the other direction.

I would suggest just syncing the BB to Outlook via a USB and Desktop Manager and then resyncing it to the new one. This will give you a good backup of your info too. I generally find it easier to maintain the address book on a PC and then just syncing it to the BB.

I believe there is software to sync outlook to a treo too, if you decide to go that direction.

Alright, so... how do I sync my BB contacts into Outlook? Looked around in the help guide, didn't see anything. 'Intellisync' on the Desktop Manager is all I can find that looks remotely close, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
