Question Will 7290 not be upgradable to next version? [Actually, it will be]

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I look after the company Blackberry server and devices and currently we are on both 4.1 on both BES and 7290 handhelds. I've been told that most blackberry devices will not be able to be upgraded to the next version which will apparently be released early in 2006. Has anyone else found or heard any information that confirms this?

The rumour is that devices which have less then 32megs of memory will not be getting new versions. The 8700, 7290, 7250 & 71XX all have 32+ megs of memory.

cd.

Don't forget the 7520 devices as well, that has 32megs of memory too.

Well, looking at the Blackberry OS 4.1 device simulator, there are entries for the bluetooth phones only. Up until then, the previous simulator 4.0.2.xx included I think all voice capable models. (16MB of course)

OS 4.1 will include a new "device connected" screen that will replace the previous black and white pc outline with arrows going back and forth to the blackberry.

Possible? Sure - but only after the new code comes out. And no one has a date for that yet.
