Default new updates has been disabled by your administrator - how to enable OTA software?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, all.

We just installed BES 5.0. I'm trying to check for firmware updates on my BB device and update it over the air. However, it seems like BES 5 disabled it by default. Is there a way to enable it again?

I already went to BAS > Blackberrey solution management > Policy > Manage policy > Edit policy > under Wireless software upgrades, i changed everything to NO and resent the IT policy to device.

But i'm still getting the error "requesting new updates has been disabled by your administrator".

Any ideas? Thanks

Not on my computer right now so can't tell you exactly where it is. But you need to go on the server topology and set setting to something like manage device software from bes to false. You also need to do what you did with the IT policy.

Hope the above helps.

Further to my post above, you need to go to:
Blackberry Solution Topology, BlackBerry Domain, Component View, BlackBerry Administration Service.

Over here, change "BlackBerry Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry Administration Service" to No.

If I am not mistaken, the option for "Specify whether to allow RIM or the wireless service provider to send wireless More... software upgrade requests to the BlackBerry device. If you do not set this rule, a default value of No will be used."

should be YES on the policy that you are pushing to the device and then as Voda has listed, verify that setting and you should be good to go. I just did this myself the other day and was able to push the latest ATT device software to a test device.

cyclmpc: thanks, where do i find that option though? I looked under policy, but didnt see it.

I had BlackBerry Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry Administration Service set to "No", but still get the same prompt that disallows OTA software updates.

Thanks for your help

Policy > Manage IT Policies > Select the IT Policy that you have applied to your hh > Edit IT Policy > Wireless Software Upgrades >

You should see it there.

The setting should be YES as you want to have your provider send you updates. Right?
