Default Email question

Hi Everyone.

I am new to Blackberry's and new to the forums. i have searched but did not find what i was looking for..

I was looking at the 8130 today and it seams that no one at Bell could answer my questions.

I want it mainly for Email. I have a work email address (example: [email address]) and want to access it on the blackberry for when i am not in my offfice, but still want my emails kept in my computer for reference. I use Outlook express on my computer currently.

What i want to know is 1) can i get the blackberry to send and receive emails to/from my work account and 2) if they are sent to my blackberry, and i open them and read them there, that would mean that when i open my outlook express, it would say no emails received right?

Is it possible send/receive emails from that account on the blackberry while still having them on my computer?

I should also mention that my computer is a laptop that is off most of the day.

Thanks

You probably don't have a BES server, so the question I am throwing out is what type of mail server, or better yet, what protocol's can you accept. I am also not 100% outlook express saavy as I am not really a M$ person anymore, but the below will work in outlook.

If you can connect via IMAP, you are done regarding the reading part. Sending no (although you could bcc yourself, then setup a filter in outlook that if it comes from you and your on the bcc list, flag it read and move it to the sent folder).

Reading, well you will get notified on the phone, if you read it on the BB, it will stay in your mailbox (outlook) but not look like a new message, simply an opened one. When you delete it on the BB you get an option to delete on the phone or the phone and mailbox which works great as well.

If you don't have an IMAP server but only POP access you would have to setup some filters on the BB web which can forward the work a copy or something creative like that.

Start there, post a bit more once that settles in.

You will be able to do what you want by setting Outlook Express to leave emails on server.
