Ok my pearl is 4 months old..still a baby..ok recently buttons have stop functioning..
buttons such:
Back key
and
basically every key on the bottom row

Now no the phone has never met water (we all know that H2O and Cell phones just dont agree)
I call up our friendly T-mobile customer service..they say "well sir yank the battery out while the phones on" DONE IT...and accomplished nothing. im sad ...I took the sim card out and put the battery in..BINGO keys are back..wait the back button still doesnt work...I put the Sim card back in and now the whole phone as gone into a mobile coma..no buttons work but i have service cause i can hear my text message sound..probably from my honeys (YEzzz SIRRRR)..ANYWAY
guys help me out..
basically the phone doesnt wanna work with the sim card in
and without it, most keys still dont work but not vital keys i need..
talk to me guys..any ideas...has my phone developed down syndrome ?

That sounds like a hardware problem. If it doesn't work with the sim card in it it's not going to do you much good as a phone!
