Default Messages from other users going to wrong account

Please Login to Remove!

hello all,

I have an interesting BES mix up problem. We had some challenges in the beginning with activation of users, in the end it turned out that our BB handsets were not provisioned for enterprise level of service (quoting Alltel provider). After they did that BB phones started to sync and work properly. However, there is one user (User X) that is getting messages (and contacts) from other two users (Y and Z), but not his own. In other words, if I send message to Y, it will show up in Y's phone and Outlook, but also in X's phone, but not in X's Outlook. If I send email to X, it will show up in his Outlook, but not in his phone. Same goes for contacts - new contact in Y's Outlook will get synced to Y's AND X's phone. No SIM's or PIN's were exchanged around.

I am Exchange admin by profession, so I know it's not something silly in Exchange, like forwarding. It's purely BB stuff in my opinion.

My thinking is that some wires got crossconnected during our desperate adding and removing of users during the initial activations. At the moment I removed impacted user from BES, but I have a feeling that more cleaning must be done. Maybe PIN should be changed/reset? We already tried hard reset of the phone.

I am wondering if someone else had the problem. Any input will be appreciated. Perhaps it's as easy as properly and inclusively cleaning of BES from X leftovers and starting with fresh account (in BB only, I don't want to remove him from A/D).

Cheers

What happened if you sent an email from User X's blackberry? Who did it appear like it was from?

Does User X have something funny in his AD account under the E-mail Addresses tab?

What is the MailboxDN for User X in the UserConfig table in the BES database?

BTW - several people would love to duplicate this behavior. So, if you figure it out, please post the cause.

I suspect the most likely explanation to this is that in the early deployment confusion user X's device was deployed to user Y and it has not been wiped before subsequently being deployed to user Y. The fix should be to wipe and redeploy user X's device, then you'll have to manually clean up the data overlap at the Exchange level I'm afraid
