Are you using MSDE or a remote SQL database? to move when using local MSDE database, you have to reactivate on the new server. If using a remote SQL database, just point the new BES to the database and you can move users between all of your servers. (You will see two servers in your BB Manager)

That's what we are in the process of doing. I moved our database to a remote SQL server last night. I am going to wait a week to make sure there are not issues with that process and then I will make the cutover to the new server (VM). We chose this method because we did not have the extra licenses and didn't want to hassle with getting temporary ones from RIM. Also with only 120 users it just seemed much easier than the phased method.

In case you decide on the knife-edge method:

Smile Add new BES server and move user

Hi
Thanks for your answer

We are using remote sql database with windows authentication
We are using lotus Domino V7.02 .

We would like use local SQL database with sql authentication.
We would like upgrade new bes server with sp6

what is the best way:
-Use the same database and move users (we have other srp key and cal)
After we will stop the old server and migrate remote database to new bes server.
Then upgrade with SP6
-Or Perform a cutover to other bes serveur, migrate sql database on local with sql authentication.
Then upgrade with SP6

I know it's a little complicated

Thanks for your help

What I have done in the past is build a new BES with the same config database and simply right click and move users accross. This is assuming both BES servers are the same version and (you confirmed you do) you have a seperate SRP ID for the new server.
