Wallpaper Resolutions

I dabbled around with my buddy's storm this evening and we were talking about wallpapers. I noticed his wallpapers were either great in landscape, or great in portrait mode, but neither would adapt. I searched around and had little luck finding anything either on BBF or the web.
Is there a way to make a wallpaper, perhaps square dimensions, so that it will fit fully either in portrait or landscape?
