Default OS Upgrade Question

Please Login to Remove!

So i installed OS 4.6.1.231 from Tmobile yesterday on my phone, everything went fine.... and its not really anything new to me.

My friend has the same 8900, thru Tmobile, and i was gonna try to update his as well. I plug it into the computer, the DM reads the device.... but for some reason it says that there is no software update available? Why is this? and yes he has 4.6.114.

Any ideas??

Did you download the OS onto your PC or update from the web.

... and removed the vendor.xml file? Try running the LOADER.EXE file rather than doing the upgrade through the Desktop Manager.

Both files are in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader folder

Why would i have to remove the vendor.xml file? It is an 8900 THRU Tmobile, and its an official verision.

whether you would NEED to remove it or not, removing it and trying to update isnt exactly a big problem.
just try it.
it may work.

Make sure you're looking in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader

Have some patience. We are helping you, but at the same time you need to help us help you. Deleting the Vendor.xml file will NOT impact the phone in any way at all. You don't have to worry about that.

Follow the advice given here and you will be alright. There are plenty of knowledgeable people here willing to help you. If you continue to question and challenge their advice, as well as insult them by calling them clueless, then you might not get the help you're looking for.

No one was calling anyone clueless, i was only referring to the 100 READS and 3 REPLYS. It was a simple question asking if anyone had any ideas.

And yes... I am looking in that folder. The vendor.xml is there, but nto the loader.exe

I would suggest going into Add/Remove Programs and uninstalling any OS you have installed on your PC. Then I would install the OS again. Delete the vendor.xml file from the freshly installed OS and then try the loader.exe file.
