I recently upgraded two phones to the AT&T 8900. One phone is an upgrade to an 8310 on BES. This phone works perfectly and continues to play .wav voicemail attachments as it did on the 8310.

The other 8900 is an upgrade for a Peal that is on BIS. On this phone, I get an error when trying to open and play a wave voicemail attachment - "media being played is of an unsupported format". The Pearl had no problems playing the wav attachments.

I can't seem to figure out what service, application, or configuration could be causing the difference - obviously it isn't a BES issue because the 8900 with the problem is on BIS.

Any ideas on what to check? I originally did not install BB Messenger on the 8900 that doesnt' play wav - I remember that may have been an issue so I did install, but no fix.

Does the device in question play wav files if they are on the media card and not coming as an attachment?

I did not check playing off the memory card, but the phone opens and plays a generic wav file with no problem. The issue is with the wav file generated and emailed from our voicemail system. I know it uses some sort of compression/codec, but my 8900 has no problem playing the vm wav files - and neither did the 8310 or the Pearl.

On the problem device go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications and see if the BlackBerry Attachment Service is present.

Yes, I should have mentioned that - the Blackberry Attachment Service is present.
