Default curve will NOT ring

Please Login to Remove!

No matter how I set up my profiles this phone will not ring, I have to keep it on vibrate to get call notification.

This is the same problem I was having with my last BB and I synced it up with the old phone to keep my addy book, notes etc, could I have imported something bizzar that is shutting off my ringer. This is beyond frustrating.

Post EXACTLY what is set in the ACTIVE profile under PHONE. Be sure to list the settings that you have for IN HOLSTER and OUT OF HOLSTER.

I had some glitch way back where my vibrate completely disappeared no matter what I did. One day it was just refused to work and I thought the vibe motor was fried. I have no idea what fixed it. I never changed profiles or settings and then one day about a month later it came back on it's own.

Hopefully you don't have this same problem. About the same time I had my issue, someone had the reverse like you do.

Try changing the ring tones, checking for custom tones for certain callers, things like that.

I created a profile named "everyday" under the phone enue in everyday reads.....

Out of holster........tone
ring tone: Ringer classic
volume.......... high
repeat notification...... led flashing
number of vibrations..... 3

In Holster..... vibe and tone
ring .... classic phone
volume....escalating
repeat notification led flashing
number of vibs...3

do not disturb.... no

It really doesn't matter what ring tones I choose or the volumes cause the thing just wont ring.

Have you tried deleting your custom profile and starting all over again?

Weird. And when it's out of the holster, it doesn't ring?

First I would try a different ringtone ... a custom one instead of the preloaded ones.

Then I would try a different preloaded/standard profile.

Then I would try a different Custom profile.

How did you sync your new phone to get the old data? Did you back up your old phone and restore to your new one? If so, you could have passed along a permissions or setting issue or a disruptive application from the old phone into the new one.

Have you tried a battery pull?

It may be worth backing up your new phone, installing the latest OS for it, and then check the phone to ensure everything works properly. Once you have confirmed that everything works as it should, restore only the data you need, such as address book, calendar, etc. Don't just restore everything because that will restore settings, permissions, etc. I would also install additional software you had one by one versus restoring the software to see if an application is causing the problem.

It will take a bit to get through this process, but you can hopefully track down the culprit.

I agree with Ifonline.
Back it up on your PC, wipe the device, then test it. It sounds to me as if it was something that you sync'd from your old phone to your new phone. If you now have audio, reinstall your contacts / calendars & whatnot SLOWLY. Each time you put something back on your phone, test it. You should be able to figure out what exactly is causing the problem this way.

I am with Ian on this.
Wipe the handset....Options/security options/general settings..Press Menu key and click wipe handheld.
Once wiped and restored. Test the BB. If all works fine then simply install the relavent data back. These kind of errors are usually caused by applications on the device. So when you are restoring the backup you are also passing that defect onto the new BB. Cheers!

Um...have you tried playing a song on the music player to make sure it's not a bad speaker? I have seen that be the problem more than a few times...lol I would try that before all the wiping and reloading.

Eversince I went to v 4.5.0.160, I noticed that when I switched profiles, my notifications would disappear as well. Pulling the battery does work to fix this...until the next time I switch profiles. It's really annoying and I'd LOVE to fix it, but my daughter stepped on my phone while charging and screwed the usb port. AUGH!!!

Try pulling the battery and see if that works, if this doesn't work you may want to consider switching the OS, as I doubt using the same one you have now will give you different results.

A battery pull is always the first thing to try. Glad it is working now.
