Default Hacked??

Please Login to Remove!

My friend thinks her Blackberry has been hacked. She has conversations with me about her boyfriend and then he tells her things that he wouldn't know without having read the Messenger logs or gotten the emails forwarded to him in some way...

Is it possible to hack a Blackberry to allow this kind of spying? Both Verizon and Sprint assure me this is not possible...

He also seems to know where she is all the time all day long... He tracked her down to my house and he doesn't know/didn't know where I live.

He seems to be getting SMS, Messenger and emails from her phone even when he's not around her...

So I've decided to come to the brilliant minds here and see if you guys know anything that might make this possible!!

Thanks!

This has been asked before and it is possible. There is software that can be installed on a BB to do this. Typically sold as teen monitoring software.

However, it could also be a case of plain old stalking. Going through her computer, logging into her account, reading her .ipd backup files, following her, etc.

She should wipe the device using jl_cmder, reinstall the OS, change all passwords on her computer, BB, cell phone account etc., and dump the guy. Once the psycho behavior starts it rarely just goes away.

Could some sort of trojan like BB Proxy but really it seems unlikely. There are 2 possible solutions for this: 1) She could completely reset the BB back to factory settings, which would wipe everything from its memory, or 2) She could send a message saying she will be somewhere doing something her boyfriend will be so upset about that he would want to also go to that location to catch her, and at that point she will be able to catch him spying on her and confront him about how he knew she would be there.

FWIW, I have not seen any spy software for CDMA BlackBerry devices. You mentioned Verizon and Sprint. Both of those are CDMA carriers. It has been reported that the spy software can be installed on a GSM device.

However, the person installing it will have to have access to the device in order to install it.

He had access, and she uses a World Edition so its got a SIM slot and GSM built in... she is on Sprint service now but is switching to Verizon/Storm soon I think.

Something doesn't sit right with me here.

I'm willing to bet money that goblynn93 is the boyfriend, and has now just learned that it's possible for him to spy on his girlfriend if he gets his hands on her device.

Any takers?

Good point, Penguin. Thinking outside of the box as usual!

Call me paranoid, but I am seeing a pattern to this "persons" activity. Looks like he/she disappears after getting some kind of direction or useful info. Check this link, he/she is actively responding to posts until given the name of the software (I'll not repeat it here) and then no more.

Is it possible to hack or spy on BBM messages & SMS? - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

Hmmm, kinda makes ya think maybe sometimes the boards a little too helpful huh.

^^ Just an observation not an accusation.
