Default 9700 email setup issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone

Apologies if this subject has already been dealt with (if so, please kindly link me to the relevant thread, thank you) but I seem to have a problem with setting up email on my new 9700 (made in Canada).

SMS/MMS work fine, as does most/all other functions, however, whenever I go into the Email Setup option, it only gives me the "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server". Nowhere does it appear the option for me to set up any personal email accounts (hotmail, gmail, etc.).

I downloaded my UK carrier specific OS (found here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B73B97E1AAA491).

I have spent hours trying to sort this out so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am in Beijing at the moment which makes it slightly trickier as it means I can't call my usual carrier (O2). It is defaulting to China Mobile at the moment.

Thank you in advance.

You need a Blackberry data plan (o2 = bolt-on) to use email etc.
If you have this, then it should work; but likely when you get back from China.

Hello Sorry for interupting this post, but I'm new to the forum and have only just purchased a 9700 bold 2.
I am having the same problem setting up a personal email account. I too am given the one choice of setting up a works email address.

I am with 02 and live in Belfast, presently there at this moment in time.

Do I HAVE to contact 02 to help me set up an internet coonection that in turn will help me set up a personal email account?

I have at present a pay as you go 02 sim card in my blackberry which I removed from my old nokia smart phone which had no problem connecting to the internet and logging into my emails without having to be set up by 02 or any other carrier.

Why is it different now that I'm using a Blackberry mobile?

Apologises again for jumping into this thread, if this post needs to be made as a new topic or whatever could the mods please adjust it so?

Regards
masser

O2 do NOT provide Blackberry bolt-ons to their PAYG plans.

Its different now your using Blackberry, because thats what blackberry requires in order for it to work.

You will need a contract, or SIM Only plan (Blackberry SIm Only plan) to use the email on a blackberry.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will look for sim only, or can anyone recommend where to look please?

I managed to log on to my router by changing settings to wifi hotspot browser.

Go to O2 website, or a local O2 store.
