Default No Content Protection option, so I can't see who is calling

Please Login to Remove!

Over the years that I have had a BB, I have suffered a well known problem where a callers name does not appear and I only get their number when they call me.

The solution to this is to enable (or perhaps Disable) 'Content Protection'...

This can usually be found under OPTIONS -> SECURITY -> GENERAL -> CONTENT PROTECTION... And this option was there when I first got my 8900.

But due to a number of bugs, I have gone down the route of trying various (possibly unsupported) Firmware versions...

And the "Content Protection" option is no longer visible.. Infact, I don't even see the "General" menu under "Security Options".

Today I upgraded to 5.0.0.681, just in the hope that the option has been reintroduced, but it hasn't.. Before that I was on 5.0.0.592 and it was missing.. And before that I was using 5.0.0.411 and I can't say for sure whether it was there in that version or not...

Does anyone know where this option has gone? Or why its missing? What can I do.. Its a nightmare having people call me and not knowing who they are...

My fingers are crossed that someone can help.

I've got a VZW Curve II with v 5.0.0.508 of the OS. I know they changed the location of this recently, but on my device, with this newer firmware, it shows up under options/security options/encryption and at least in my firmware version the button is labled now encryption rather than content protection...the exclude contacts option is also there which should fix the problem with caller id on address book names not working...

Ahhha.. You might be right.. I saw a lot of optoins relating to "Encryption" and I don't remember seeing them before.

I will play around with them to see what happens.. Fingers crossed..
