Hey Guys,

Totally new to my Blackberry so dont really have much of a clue, so please bear with me =)

I have OS 6.0.0.294 installed on my BB, but would like to upgrade it to see if it gets rid of the buggy-ness i seem to be experiencing (particularly with BBM).

I have found an upgrade for my carrier to 6.0.0.863 but i don't think it'll work...

The file to download is a .exe which is obviously a windows file, but i'm using a Mac...

Is there any way or anywhere i can download a mac friendly version to install on my BB. I have tried to upgrade via the BB Desktop Software but it doesn't find the OS update... unless im doing it wrong...

Any help would be greatly appreciated =D

You need to either set up a windows instance on your Mac using Parallels, VMWare or Bootcamp or find a friend with a PC and do it from there.

Actually, the things that loader.exe needs to do via usb are not fully supported on VMWare or VirtualBox.

i can't speak for parallels, but i know for certain that virtual box and VMWare will *not* be able to do a device upgrade.


the safest and easiest thing to do is to just install bootcamp + windows or use a friends PC.

I did bootcamp on my mac, and it was the best way..

Why don't you download the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac (I can't post the link because I haven't posted enough on this forum). That's what I did with my wife's Bold and we upgraded to OS 6 with little incident.

I phoned up yesterday my O2 UK Blackberry techies and they said YES, you can download and do the update to 6.0.0.448 via mac. Will try it tomorrow and let you know.
