Synchronization only works one way

I've had a problem spring up yesterday that I'm having trouble fixing. It seems that my e-mail only will synchronize one way. If I read or delete a message on my handheld, it shows as read or deleted on my desktop. However, when I read or delete a message on my desktop, the change isn't reflected on my handheld.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!
