I am a current Nextel 7520 user and just purchased a Sprint 8830. As much as I regarded my 7520 as a "dog" from a speed standpoint, it has been *rock solid* reliable for 3 years now. It is also built like a tank as I have dropped it down steps and watched is slide across pavement on more than one occasion (all by accident of course), and it still keeps on ticking without missing a beat.

The 8830 looks to be more of a fragile device. I have searched and found numerous holsters, skins, clear cases etc that should fit the 8830. What do you folks recommend? I am looking for the best protection without losing functionality.

Any preferences or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I have continued my searches and I guess it comes down between Invsible Shield, Bodyguardz, and Best Skins Ever. I saw that more than one person mentioned the fit on the bottom of the 8800/8830 by these skins is not what it should be. Has this changed? Any recent update on applying these to this BB model?

I have used the thick plastic snap-on cases before and was not happy due to both the added size and a few grains of sand between the device an the inner wall of the case made for some bad scratches. No thanks.

I will keep poking around and see what else I can find.

I had a seidio clip for my 7100 so when I switched to a 8830 I figured I'd give them a try. I didn't like the rubber skin some people at work have, so I decided to go with the hybrid clear-black sleve/holster combo. It showed up today and I put it on and so far it looks ok. It does stick up a bit above the keyboard on the sides but not enough to really be a problem

I also got the screen protector and put it on after the case and can't even tell its there.

I'm a holster type of guy.. Not a fan of skins.. Had a great experience with the Seidio Spring Clip for my 7130e, that I "automatically" purchased the one for the 8830 when I got it. No regrets.

When I got home I realized that one came with the phone and I like it more than the one I bought. I use the BB one that came with the phone unless I just throw the phone in my pocket. The phone is so small that it fits in the pocket nicely.. like a flip phone almost.
